As Eugene, myself and the rest of the MUPT team were arriving to our street level community during our street walk on Friday, it was not how I imagined it would be.  Maybe it was because I had experienced the street youth’s warm welcome  in Davao so many times I selfishly wished it would be something like that.
But nonetheless, the youths there were respectful while Eugene and I introduced ourselves to them.
I was particularly interested in one conversation with a youth named Jun-Jun; he was telling me that he left his home because his mom and grandma fight all the time.  I had a hard time accepting that this was the only reason why he didn’t want to go back home and instead live out and sleep in the city streets.  I did not push forward to ask him more about his past since I had just met him, but maybe next time he will open up when I go see him again.
